Businesses Moving to Las Vegas

Las Vegas-based Consolidated Resorts topped off construction on the $60 million first phase of Tahiti Village, a time share project on Las Vegas Boulevard South near Warm Springs Rd. The first three buildings will be five and six stories with 154 two-bedroom units that can be split into 308 one-bedroom units.

MGM Mirage to Build Metropolis on the Las Vegas Strip MGM Mirage development will bring 12,000 jobs. The project is dramatic in scale and, over time, will be developed into a master-planned urban complex. Construction of the first phase will take about 42 months, with an anticipated opening in 2010. The second phase is expected to entail about 2,500 residential units. "We're very pro-growth. I don't think we fear it. It hasn't been boom and bust, it's been boom and slow down, boom and slow down." 11/10/2004

Moving in On the Furniture Market- Las Vegas Hopes to Become a Big Player in Industry Many expect the World Market Center -- now under construction with 1.3 million square feet in downtown Las Vegas -- to be the beginning of a new industry in the valley and to be the economic kick-start that downtown needs. The first Las Vegas market, scheduled for July 25-29, will include at least 2.3 million square feet of exhibition space at the World Market Center site at Grand Central Parkway and Bonneville Avenue and at the Las Vegas Convention Center. New City Hall Proposed on 61 acres Downtown Along with an academic medical center and a performing arts venue, Mayor Oscar Goodman is floating another design idea for the city's vacant 61 acres: new digs for the city government. A proposal under discussion in private meetings regarding the 61-acre Union Park land west of downtown would call for the construction of a new, larger city hall there, as well as the conversion of the current city hall a few blocks away into condominiums for people such as teachers and nurses. Delay of Sale for 2,300 Acres of Federal Land in North Las Vegas The preservation effort came after botanists surveying the area found the Las Vegas bearpoppy, which is protected under state law as critically endangered, and a newly identified variety of Las Vegas buckwheat, which the government is considering protecting under the Endangered Species Act. 11/9/2004

Logistics Center- 2.1 million sq ft facility located near Craig Rd and I-15.

Metl-Span, a manufacturer of insulated metal panels, has plans to open a plant in North Las Vegas. The company plans to lease 165,000 sq ft of space in an existing building.

North Beltway Industrial Center- 100 acre master planned industrial park, located at the intersection of the 15 and 215 freeways. The project will accommodate large industrial and distribution users needing immediate access to local businesses and highways.

North Las Vegas Draws Industrial Interests Another reason is because North Las Vegas has 2.7 million square feet of vacant industrial space (giving tenants and buyers more choice, and in some cases more negotiation power, when looking for a building) and is 40 percent to 50 percent cheaper than southwest Las Vegas, another popular location for industrial properties. 7/23/2004

Core Builds Second School Based on New Prototype in Northeast Las Vegas Clark County contracted Core Construction to build a new high school at the northwest corner of Dorrell Lane and Goldfield Street in northeast Las Vegas. The project will consist of 350,000 sq ft on a 47-acre parcel of land. Pabco Gypsum- March 04 $26 million expansion of plant on N Nellis. The company manufactures gypsum wallboard products for construction. Will add 34 workers to its existing 126.Silverado Business Park- Located on the northeast corner of Alexander and Pecos, the 2.72-acre project consists of two buildings and is scheduled for occupancy in January 2005.

Christopher Commercial breaks ground in August 2005 for Parkway Pointe, a 53,000 sq ft office building at the northeast corner of Summerlin Pkwy and Town Center Dr. Las Vegas Business Press July 4, 2005.

Tenants Are Filling Up the Territory Final tenants for the Centennial Gateway, located at the northwest corner of Centennial Center Boulevard and Ann Road, are being lined up by the folks at Territory Inc. 11/12/2004

Coldwell Banker Premier Realty- Located at Cimarron and Sky Pointe Dr, this 30,076 sq ft building is scheduled for completion in the 4th quarter of 2004.

Goodwill of Southern Nevada Headquarters- Located at Martin Luther King and Cheyenne- 4.4-acre facility will be their headquarters. About 250 people will work at the new two-story building when it opens in January 2005. Las Vegas Business Press 7/19/2004

The Great Mall of Las Vegas is planned to be built at the corner of US 95 and 215. The mall, built by Triple Five Nevada Development Corp, is expected to be at least 2 million sq ft, according to a 4/2/04 article in "In Business."

Las Vegas Technology Center II- 72 acre mixed use business park located at Smoke Ranch and Buffalo.

Longford Medical Center- a 4 story 132,000 sq ft medical office building off Summerlin Pkwy and Buffalo Dr. According to a 4/5/04 article in the Las Vegas Review Journal, they have signed leases with Nevada Heart and Vascular Center, Good Shepherd Healthcare, and AHC for a coffee shop.

Painted Desert Professional Park- a 137,210 sq ft master planned development at 95 and Ann Rd.

Sahara-Hart Plaza planned to be built at Sahara and Miller Ln for retail businesses. The project is scheduled to be completed by summer 2004.

Poly America Finds Home in Henderson In 1994, Poly-America Inc. purchased about 45 acres in Henderson for its Poly-West manufacturing plant. Senators Back Bill to Help Henderson Buy Land- Ensign, Reid introduce legislation that would let city convert more than 4

Green Valley Corporate Center- 90-acre master planned business park developed by American Nevada Company.

McCarran Center- 100 acre master planned office and light industrial park located on the south side of 215 and Warm Springs. The center has been designed to provide day care facilities and a 190 room business hotel.

TWC Job Brings Mustang Parts Maker to Vegas TWC is more than half complete with construction of its 86,000 sq ft manufacturing facility and warehouse for Scott Drake Enterprises, which makes parts for classic Ford Mustangs. 10/1/2004

Durango Station- Showdown Develops over Plans for Casino After hearing Station Casinos is entitled to build its planned Durango Station as a 217-foot casino with 43,000 more square feet of gaming than the MGM Grand, nearby homeowners are questioning the definition of "neighborhood casino." Homeowners in and around the Rhodes Ranch community aren't waiting for negotiations to begin with Station Casinos. Rather, they're borrowing strategies from Summerlin residents who engaged in an ugly fight with the company over its Red Rock Station casino, which led to its proposed 300-foot hotel-casino towers being reduced to 198 feet. 11/20/2004
