Project City Center Will Offer
New Resort Concept
Las Vegas Real Estate
MGM recently announced its "urban metropolis" that is planned to be built on the site of the Boardwalk casino. The project is designed to be more residential than for tourism.
According to a November 2004 article in In Business Las Vegas, the project will be built in phases on a 66-acre site between the Bellagio and Monte Carlo Strip properties.
The first phase is designed for completion around 2010 and consist of a 4,000-room hotel with a casino, three "boutique hotels," 550,000 sq ft of retail shops, dining and entertainment venues, 1,650 luxury condo units and private residence clubs.
Also noted in the article, the project will create about 7,000 construction jobs and more than 12,000 permanent jobs once it's completed. The $3 billion price tag is expected to be offset by selling the condo units.
