Lied Considering a New Home in Town Square

Las Vegas Business News

The Lied Children's Museum is considering moving from its current location by Cashman Field (north of downtown) to a retail and office development now under construction about a mile south of Mandalay Bay.

According to an October 2005 article in The Las Vegas Sun, Jennifer Shubinski reports that two factors are driving this decision: free rent and a newer location. Although a new location may be great, they are considering the proximity to their culturally-related neighbors.

The driving force behind relocation is the offer from Centra and Turnberry to occupy a specific space for free for a limited time. To many people, this space isn't just any space, it is located above retail shops in Town Square , a 1.7 million square foot urban lifestyle development under construction near 215 and Las Vegas Blvd in southwest Las Vegas .

Many cities have incorporated cultural centers within corporate communities. One of the main reasons the decision is undecided is based on the financial feasibility and value it is possible to bring to the Town Center project.
